Trail Rules

2008024-safety

Follow the Rules. Regulations on sled registration and use are different in various parts of the snow belt. Check with natural resource and law enforcement agencies and snowmobile dealers or clubs in the area you’re visiting to make sure your ride results in legal and hassle-free snowmobiling.

Remember, that Alberta has an age restrictions for snowmobile operation, requiring that a person younger than 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

As snowmobilers, we know that the sport of snowmobiling is fun and exhilarating, however, it is also inherently dangerous, exposing participants to many risks and hazards, only some of which are foreseeable; and as snowmobilers we freely and voluntarily assume all of these risks and hazards, and that accordingly, the use of the ASA trails and participation in ASA events shall be entirely at your own risk.

It’s Up to You – Know Before You Go. Operators will know and will obey all Alberta laws, bylaws and regulations, which pertain to the operation of snowmobiling. It is recognized and accepted that snowmobiling is essentially an off-road activity taking place in an unpredictable natural environment. It’s up to you – Sled Smart and use respect.

Safe Crossing. Be careful when crossing roads of any kind. Come to a complete stop and make absolutely sure no traffic is approaching from any direction. Then cross at a right angle to traffic.

Please respect private property. Stay on the trail!

Take it easy. Today’s snowmobile is a mechanical marvel. It provides inspiring performance, reliability and pleasing aesthetics, combined with essential safety design and components. Safe riders drive within the limits of their machine and their abilities.

Remember, speed is not the measure of snowmobiling fun. You should always ride at a speed in which you can stop within your line of sight. Slowdown and enjoy the scenery and the experience. Ease up on the throttle especially when near other machines, people, trees, animals and other objects. It’s good sense – and it’s the law.

Take a Friend. Don’t snowmobile alone. Not only is snowmobiling more fun with family and friends, it’s safer too.
