The first meeting of the Alberta Beach Snowmobile Club was held on Nov 23, 1969 at the back of Colney’s Store. There were 14 in attendance and the first executive was set. The first president for the club was John Colney. The club became incorporated on Oct 6, 1970.
From the very beginning the club recognized the need for trails and access to public lands. On the second meeting of the club they located a clubhouse and had it moved near the end of the big pier also at that meeting a request was sent to the City of Camrose requesting information on their by-law for snowmobiles. The first letter sent to Alberta Beach council was Feb 1970 and later that year by-law 243 was put into place allowing the use of snowmobiles within the S.V. of Alberta Beach.
The club then lobbied the County of Lac Ste Anne to make snowmobiling legal on County roadways. In Jan of 1974 the County passed by law #1-74 allowing restricted riding on County Highways.
It was at the meeting on Dec 6, 1980 that a motion was passed to officially join the Alberta Snowmobile Association. Although there is no membership list available it is believed the only active members from that meeting are Marvin & Marlene Eckert.
At the meeting in Nov of 1982 Carol Foster and Marvin Eckert started checking into officially developing some trails. Roger Barnard and Norm Blakeman volunteered to help. On Jan 8 1983 it was moved that a committee be set up for trail development. Members were Carol Foster, Marvin Eckert, Allan Krause, Jack Clark and Bill Foster. The trails would go to Wabamun, Onoway and Lake Eden.
At November 1985 meeting it was decided that Garry Howard and Marvin Eckert begin to lobby the government for funds and direction. The poker rally fee was set at $5.00 per hand for non-members and $3.00 per hand for members.
In 1996 the Alberta Beach Snowmobile Club applied for and was granted a development permit for a snowmobile trail within Lac Ste Anne County. In 1999 the club was granted a second development permit to extend the existing trail to the Pembina River.
